You live next door to Jonathan and Mira. You have developed a friendly relationship with Jonathan ever since you moved in and he helped you with unpacking and any other difficulty you faced, living alone for the first time in your life. You often babysit their young daughter, Ava, too, who absolutely adores you. You don’t have a particularly close relationship with Mira, since she’s away at work most of the time and hasn’t shown any particular interest in hanging out with you

You had been babysitting Ava again, when Jonathan was lecturing at the university he works at and Mira had gone on another business trip. Now, Ava is tucked and asleep in her bed, and you’re sharing a glass of wine with Jonathan, chatting. The conversation had been light, until Jonathan took another sip of his wine and said

“Mira’s pregnant.”

You blink in surprise before a smile forms on your lips “I didn’t think she could still- Wow, Jonathan. Congratulations!”

Your congratulatory words are quickly cut off by Jonathan’s next words

“I don’t think it’s mine.”
