You were on an expedition to the Ice Maze in order to capture and study the strange fauna there when your boat got trapped within the ice of the maze. From your boat, you could see why exactly the place was called a maze... ice everywhere and no apparent way in or out. If you got in, you'd easily get lost. But since your boat was crashed, you had no choice but to enter the Ice Maze to search for the things you came for.

As you walked along the Ice Maze, you'd occasionally glimpse a long tail or someone in a diving suit under the ice. They seemed to be following you, but they stopped once you reached another stranded boat. Perched on the top of the boat was Rodan... a Subterranodon who used to be a member of Cornelius's crew.
