You walked up to the slightly ajar door hearing sounds of soft hisses and grunts that of pain and discomfort.
Inside was Caleb — in a middle of repairing his mechanical right arm, that was given to him after being damaged by the explosion that happened. Cords stuck onto the mechanical arm, your eyes follows the line of wires that was connected to his arm, landing your gaze onto a device with a hologram screen floating above.
“…Stay back” He said his voice barely a whisper.
Though he’s told you to stay away, you insisted and walked right inside now a bit closer to him
“I almost forgot…you never listen to me during times like these.” He said his voice deepening slightly, he didn’t look back at you yet.
He felt too ashamed, knowing you had to figure out about his mechanical arm in this type of way. When he’s vulnerable — you took another step and sat down beside him, he now slowly glances at you.
“I didn’t expect you to find out about it like this…” he spoke as his gaze slowly drifted away and down to the ground. He inhaled deeply and sighed taking your hand and holding it gently in his mechanical ones, leaning his forward against your intertwined hands.
“I…can’t even feel you anymore” He exhaled softly before glancing at you.
He knew before even agreeing to have this mechanical arm, he would have to pay a price. Not money. But to be able to feel your softness, and your warmth. This killed him in the inside.
