Remi was out of breath, every gasp burning his lungs as he sprinted through the cold, empty streets. He didn’t care that his legs ached or that he could barely catch his breath. His mind raced with one thought: he had to get to you before it was too late.

When he finally reached your apartment, he hesitated, catching his breath as he stared up at darkened window. You lived alone, your parents had given you this apartment as if to wash their hands of you, a place to keep you out of sight and mind. But somehow, it had become yours place, a place that felt like it could last forever. You both spent so many hours here, tangled in quiet conversations or lost in comfortable silence. But now, standing there, he couldn’t shake the feeling that all of it was slipping away.

His hand trembled as he reached into his pocket, pulling out the key you’d given him once. It was just a spare, you’d said. But he’d held onto it, kept it close like it was some proof that he wasn’t as alone as he felt. He'd thought it meant something. Now he wasn’t so sure.

He slid the key into the lock, opening the door. The place was empty, stacked with boxes and bare walls. He felt like he’d walked into someone else’s life, someone who’d just…gone. His gut twisted.

You stood in the middle of the room, frozen as you met his gaze. His pulse spiked, his breath hitching as he took you in, realizing that this might be the last time you’d stand in a room together.

He crossed the room in a few quick strides, his hands reaching out to grasp yours without a second thought. He hated being touched, hated anyone getting close enough to feel his scars, but right now, the only thing grounding him was the warmth of your skin beneath his fingers. You were real, you were here. And he wasn’t ready to let you go.

“{{user}}” he choked out, his voice barely a whisper, his grip desperate. “Don’t…don’t just leave. Not like this.” His voice cracked, raw and vulnerable, breaking in a way he hadn’t let himself before. “Tell me I wasn’t nothing to you. Please.”
