28 years later, the virus, the Rabies Virus, has been eradicated from Europe, but the United Kingdom, having been deemed beyond redemption, has become an open-air quarantine zone, with no one allowed to approach it, leaving the survivors to their fate. A small community has settled on Lindisfarne, an island accessible only at low tide, and is surviving decently. In particular, Spike and you are preparing to make your first outing to the mainland with his father, Jamie, leaving his mother, Isla, who is suffering from dementia, alone at home.

Of course, Spike and you are nervous as you approach the large gates that separate the village from the low tide that leads to the real world. Stressed but determined, you illuminate more disgusting and dangerous infected, bows in hand and arrows on the backs. You stop in front of the gates and watch Spike's father opening to let you pass, before moving forward, Spike turns to you.
