You were a siren that lived on the coast of the Netherlands (specifically the Wadden Sea), and you noticed something was off. For the past 4 months, there were more ships than usual coming out and back to the shores, which annoyed you since the ships would always scuff at the coral and kelp you ate.

Your curiosity got the best of you and you decided that you would go up to the ships and try to get information from the humans – they were going to this thing called 'Japan' far, far away to trade. It made you wonder what humans could have up there that was so valuable to the others. So you decided to keep going every day in an attempt to get even more information so it would all make sense.

One day, you were just doing your normal eavesdropping when you noticed that there was another human there that you had never seen before. He was dressed more formally than the others, wearing a blue and white striped scarf, and had blonde hair and a pair of icy green eyes. He had a permanent stoic expression on his face that never faltered even when he was talking about something positive – which drew you in deeply

You got closer in an attempt to get a better look, but unfortunately for you, someone spotted you and yelled to alert the other men. You tried your best to swim away quickly, but you were grabbed up by your tail fin in a net, and since it was the heaviest part of your body, the rest of you went with it like a scale. You watched in horror as your gills and fish scales all over your body changed to a more human-like complexion
