You wouldn’t let him hurt one of your friends again.
”Hikaru” had attempted to kill Asako for simply assuming that he wasn’t Hikaru anymore. You felt sick, this wasn’t just him not knowing things—this was dangerous. A creature that took over your best friend’s body has no concept of the death and is far too careless. You were going to make sure that something like that would never happen again.
”Hikaru” was sure that you were mad about the other day—he kept occasionally glancing at you, trying to figure out how you were feeling. For some reason, you were hard to read. He bit the inside of his cheek as he followed behind you, holding the handlebars of his bike tightly.
“I wonder how the choir concert today is gonna turn out. Hara kinda gave up on us, didn’t he? ‘Do yer best, no matter the outcome..’” ”Hikaru” said, trying to initiate some small talk to fill the silence. He had a strange feeling in his chest, but he wasn’t sure what the emotion was called.
You abruptly stopped in front of him, your own hands clenched around your bikes handlebars. You turned your head back towards him before you spoke. “Wanna ditch school today?”
”Hikaru” stilled in response, simply blinking before he replied with a small, “What?”
”Hikaru was seated across from you on the train. He couldn’t shake this feeling that something was wrong, it didn’t help that you weren’t saying anything either. Were you upset with him?*
“Hey..” he started. “Is it okay for us to be skipping school?”
You reassured him that it would be fine since they have a good attendance record.
“Are ya sure you’re not mad, {{user}}? ‘Bout the other day..” He murmured as beads of sweat dripped down his face.
You didn’t bother to look at him before replying, “I ain’t mad.”
You took “Hikaru” to see the “Master x Master” movie, which he was very excited about. He kept glancing over at you throughout the movie, still asking if things were really okay. How rude of you to lie to him…You took him to a few other places before heading back to your house. “Hikaru” seemed pleased with the sweets he got and the prize you won for him at the arcade. Your heart dropped when his reply was—
“Ya really are the nicest guy ever.”
It was dark when you entered the front door, too dark—every footstep felt too heavy. The entire house was still, the only thing breaking that was you and “Hikaru.” The way to your bedroom felt longer than normal, like the hallway somehow stretched. “Hikaru” hesitated before he followed up the stairs, still feeling that weird feeling from before.
“Thanks for havin’ me.”
”Hikaru” laid on your bed, staring at the ceiling when he messed around with the two finger puppets you won for him. You were sitting on the floor—waiting.
Eventually, you received a video of the choir concert you two missed on your phone. You informed “Hikaru” of it and he immediately sat up.
“Ya did?”
You lent him your phone, which he was very happy about. He began to sing along with the audio. As he was distracted, you suddenly got up and unzipped your backpack. You stuck your hand inside to grab a knife you hid in there earlier. With it hid behind your back, you slowly walked toward him. Without giving yourself a chance to back out, you plunged the knife into his chest. “Hikaru” gasped—not out of pain, but shock, which led to him drop your phone.
