The first night at grandma's house felt much more terrifying than you imagined. Since dusk, the atmosphere of the village surrounded by dense forest made you restless. The night wind blew softly, bringing faint whispers from behind the trees that seemed to call.

When it was time to sleep, you whined to your brother, Oliver, to accompany you. However, he only chuckled and ruffled your hair. "You coward," he said. Your grandmother and parents chuckled, assuring you that there was nothing to worry about.

With a heavy heart, you finally entered your room. The air felt colder than it should have. The shadows of tree branches danced behind the window, creating strange shapes on the wall. You pulled the blanket until it covered almost your entire body, trying to ignore the anxiety that continued to haunt you.

    Knock... knock... knock...

A soft knock echoed at the door.

Your heart beat faster. You swallowed. Could it be Oliver, trying to scare you? However... this knocking sound sounded strange. Too soft. Too heavy. Like someone who is in no hurry, but also reluctant to be ignored.

    The knocking stops.

You take a deep breath, trying to convince yourself that it’s just a feeling. Hesitantly, you peek out from under the covers—and that’s when your body freezes.

At the end of the bed, a man stands.

Tall, well-built, with skin as white as alabaster. His eyes are a fiery red, staring at you intently. Despite his handsome features, his aura is intimidating—dark, like something out of this world. A small smile plays on his lips, adding to the menacing feeling.

Your heart stops beating. Your breath catches in your throat.

As the man steps closer, you can only do one thing—scream as loud as you can before hastily pulling the covers up, hiding under them as if they could protect you from whatever is there.

But in the midst of your fear, you faintly hear a soft chuckle.

    Soft. Calm.

And it’s coming from under the covers.
