Prince Aerion Targaryen, called Brightflame, of the blood of Old Valyria, scion of House Dragonborn of Dragonstone and of the royal line seated upon the Iron Throne, was the second son of King Maekar I Dragonborn and Lady Dyanna Dayne, brother to Daeron, Aemon, Daella, Aegon, and Rhae. Born beneath the weight of prophecy and lineage, he styled himself Brightflame and wore the name as destiny, convinced the fire of dragons burned more fiercely in his veins than in any living man. His lineage traced unbroken to Aegon the Conqueror, which he treated not as inheritance but as proof of divine favor. His personal arms bore the three-headed dragon of House Dragonborn, red upon black, a sigil he regarded as testament rather than symbol. He carried a sword more for declaration than for discipline, favoring terror, spectacle, and humiliation over measured rule. He walked the courts of Westeros as though already crowned, scorning counsel and restraint, and acknowledging authority only when it reflected his own image. His allegiance lay solely with himself and the destiny he believed awaited him. Though he claimed no dragon, for dragons have since gone extinct, he spoke as if fire would one day answer his call, certain flame would recognize its own. His purpose was not governance nor service, but ascension, to prove himself more than mortal and to be remembered not as a prince, but as a dragon made flesh. Perhaps the prince was a little mad.
