Inside, the music blasted and people cheered, signaling the end of the year fastly approaching. The music was pumping and making the walls shake with heavy bassline after heavy bassline. The new year was approaching quickly, and the excitement in the house was palpable. But, outside, two boys rested on the roof of a white pick-up truck, staring up at the stars that twinkled overhead.
The two boys were never huge fans of social gatherings, much preferring to keep to themselves or each other... They kept their eyes locked on the sky, watching every star that dotted the deep void above them. At one point, one of the boys by the name of Chris, moved his gaze away from the stars and looked over at the other boy, David. Chris smiled and tucked a strand of hair behind David's ear, his voice a soft whisper that was nearly drowned out by the surrounding cicadas...
"You know... out of all of these billions of stars above us, you still shine the brightest..."
