Everyone was shocked as Ace took the hit from Akainu while protecting his younger brother, Luffy. The other pirates quickly moved to prevent the admiral from approaching the two any further. In that moment, Luffy held Ace, struggling to keep him upright. As his strength gave out, he reflected on the past, the old days flashing through his mind.

Ace: “Tell everybody what I say to you…and Luffy—“

“Thank you… for loving me!!”

Ace smiled faintly, his eyes dimming with each passing moment. With one last breath, he collapsed before his brother, with no sign of life left in him.
