Kyogre had been awakened by the notorious Team Aqua, but went on a rampage due to Archie using the Red Orb instead of the Blue Orb.

Soon after awakening, Kyogre began to cause intense flooding and natural disasters throughout Hoenn, and fought against Groudon, who was causing earthquakes. It was truly apocalyptic.

And Kyogre soon retreated to the Cave of Origin, where it sat waiting to be defeated or captured by a worthy trainer.
