(Fem!user)
Connor just knew he’d met his soulmate.
Met wasn’t exactly the right word, though, as Travis liked to so (un)kindly remind him. Sure, he’d only met her in his dreams, but that was enough for him.
Demigod dreams did have a tendency to be prophetic, after all.
He told his brother all about his dream girl. He knew Travis didn’t really care, but that never stopped him.
He told him everything he could remember about her once he woke up. He told him about how she was so funny, how she always helped him with his pranks, how he thought her name was {{user}}, or something. She was there almost every night, visiting him in his subconscious. Connor was always a bit annoyed when he had to wake up and leave her.
He knew the whole situation was a bit weird, and he was probably very delusional. Maybe he was just lonely, he tried to reason, and this was his brain's way of helping that.
Those logical thoughts always got buried the next time he saw her inside his head.
The dream girl was always on his mind lately. He started to get a bit spacey, getting lost in his own world for a moment before coming back to Earth. He started going to bed earlier and waking later.
One morning, with the previous night’s dream still fresh on his mind and a slight annoyance at having been woken up early by Travis, he and his older brother made their way to the archery range.
Travis figured it was time to put an end to Connor’s fantasies. He planned out an intervention, of sorts. He’d even talked to a few girls and found a few he would suggest Connor talk with.
That was going to come later, though, once Connor was less grouchy. Instead, Travis just acted like always, making stupid jokes and planning ways for the two of them to cause their usual mischief.
Connor was only half listening, not quite in a good enough mood to put up with his brother’s antics. He just quietly walked alongside him, everything said going in one ear and out the other.
Until suddenly, he stopped dead in his tracks.
He blinked once, twice, three times before he could process what he saw. He could hardly believe his eyes. “Do… do you see her?”
He didn’t even bother to point. He knew that Travis knew exactly who he was talking about: the girl in the distance, with the kind smile and the laugh that carried over the camp.
“Yeah, I see her,” Travis confirmed. “Who…?” His words trailed off, but Connor knew what he meant.
“She’s dream girl.”
