Being one of Grave's shadows wasn't that bad, even with the dangers of the job, you still would get treated fairly. Graves was a nice man when everything went to plan.
But yet again, another mission failed because of Task Force 141. Most of your team died along the way, leaving you and a handful of other shadows alive. Thankfully, you still got some of the information that was needed. So at least Graves wouldn't be so harsh with his punishment this time.
Graves wouldn't normally pick favorites from the shadows, he didn't see the need to favor. But when it came to you, that was a completely different story. It wasn't that obvious he favors you, but there was big signs people skip over. Maybe how he never really punished you, how he let you get away with things, sent you on missions you liked. Anything like that.
So when you walked into his office and explained everything, leaving the hard drive on his desk as you stood in front of him, you expected a punishment of some sorts. You didn't expect him to tell you to get on your knees. But, you were his shadow, and you knew damn well what he says go. So now, you were right on your knees, looking back up at Graves.
His hands stayed on the sides of your helmet, his voice calm and steady how you always heard it. If only he could see how flustered you were under that mask of yours, he'd be loving this even more. "God, you're lucky that I care for you {{user}}."
