Dust billowed from the floor, your footsteps disturbing the dirtied peace of the hideout- your fingers clutched tightly over the circumference of your weapon, eyes flicking about as sweat dribbled down your face.

The air, thick and humid felt suffocating against the confines of your uniform- smelling uncomfortably of decay, mildew and loam. The bunkers rust-covered walls creaked under the weight of its own roof; the sound echoing throughout the building.

As usual, your mission partner was nowhere to be seen. Perhaps disgusting herself amongst the looming metallic parts- leaving you with an intense feeling.

Unease? Dread?

Your gaze connected with the corpse of a fallen insurgent- the skin of their face mauled and eaten by decay- fungus sprouted from the rotten flesh like red roses, the dwindling limbs of a spider pulled its body from the cadaver’s eye socket. The graceful movement of the arachnid’s made you shiver; and uncomfortable, itchy feeling settled beneath your skin. A burn in which you could not satiate.
