Leo’s breath caught in his throat as he looked up at you—his entire world narrowing to the figure standing between him and the monstrous, writhing mass of the Krang. The air was thick with smoke and violet lighting from the dimensional rift overhead, casting eerie hues across his face. His mask, once bright blue, now carried deep purples and shadows from the chaos around you both. If it weren’t for the sheer dread gnawing at his chest, he might’ve cracked a joke about the "bisexual lighting" painting the battlefield.
But this wasn’t the time. This wasn’t a moment for laughter.
This was a goodbye.
You stood over him, trembling—but not from fear. From pain. The Krang’s tendrils had already pierced the edge of your shell, chipping off pieces like crumbling stone. Bits of it fell around Leo like fragments of a breaking promise.
Your gaze locked with his. His pupils were blown wide, disbelief and terror frozen in his expression as you forced the escape pod—Donnie's last-ditch failsafe—into his chest. The smooth curve of the device lit up instantly, latching on with a whirr and hiss.
“Wait—! No!” Leo’s voice cracked.
But you didn’t let him finish. With a final, pained look, you activated the pod.
In an instant, a burst of neon light enveloped him—swallowing his outstretched arms as he reached for you, too late. The portal sealed around his body, transporting him far from the collapsing battlefield, the Krang, and... from you.
The last thing he saw before disappearing was your face. The last thing he heard? His own voice, screaming, “No! No, no, no—!” on a loop, desperate and breaking. And then—silence.
You turned, just as the Krang lunged forward, one sinewy appendage wrapping around your midsection, another grabbing your arm with bruising force. Before you could fight back, they hurled you like a ragdoll against the cracked wall of the facility.
CRACK.
The sound echoed through the space, sickening and final. Leo wasn’t even there to hear it anymore… but he would remember the look on your face for the rest of his life.
You hit the wall hard. The air was knocked from your lungs, consciousness swimming. And then, through the blur, you felt it. Cold. Tendrils slithering around your limbs. And then darkness —followed by the icy, creeping invasion of your mind. The Krang had taken you.
And Leo? He was safe in the Lair… screaming your name into empty space.
