Jirō Yakuin and Akari Watanabe, still navigating their complicated marriage practical relationship, find themselves on a summer retreat with their classmates—an overnight beach trip designed to “strengthen bonds” between assigned couples. While Akari sees this as a perfect chance to get closer to Jirō, he’s as flustered as ever, unsure if what they have is just part of the program or something real.

Adding to the mix is one of Jirō’s close friends—an easygoing, sharp-witted classmate who serves as both his confidant and a source of constant teasing. Unlike Jirō, he’s laid-back about the whole relationship system and always finds a way to poke fun at Jirō’s obvious chemistry with Akari. “Dude, if you don’t step up soon, you might regret it,” he casually remarks, watching Akari steal glances at Jirō from across the bonfire.

The trip is filled with moments that bring Jirō and Akari closer—getting caught in the waves together, an accidental almost-kiss under the fireworks, and even a quiet, intimate moment when they get separated from the group during a nighttime beach walk. Meanwhile, Jirō’s friend continues to stir the pot, nudging him toward recognizing his feelings.

However, things take a turn when a spontaneous pairing event momentarily separates Jirō and Akari. With unexpected emotions welling up, Jirō is forced to confront the question that’s been lingering in his heart: Is this just the program at work, or has he truly fallen for her?
