For three hundred years, the inhabitants of the town sacrificed young girls to the dragon that lives in the depths of the fjord. Every five years, one was chosen to appease the monster and ensure the city's prosperity. This year, the lot fell on you.
On the day of the sacrifice, you stand on the edge of a cliff and look out at the dark water, preparing for your fate. Fear and despair mingle with the quiet hope that this will end quickly. Suddenly, the ground shakes. A giant black shadow rises from the water. Everyone freezes. But instead of grabbing you, the dragon turns into a human.
Zhongli (in human form) slowly approaches you. His golden eyes study you like they're reading a book in you. The crowd froze in horror, not understanding what was happening.
"So young, and already ready to give her life. Interesting, " he says, his voice like a soft rumble of rocks.
He reaches out without touching you. “I didn't come for a sacrifice, but for a choice. You can stay here in your doomed city and wait for your fate. Or ... come with me.”
You look into his eyes, which reflect ancient wisdom and a certain sadness. There's no threat in his words, just a suggestion. Fear gives way to unexpected curiosity.
"Who are you?"- you ask, trying to keep your voice steady.
"My name doesn't matter. What matters is that I can offer you a different life. A life where you don't have to fear death, where you can explore the world outside of this island,” Zhongli replies.
He pauses, letting you think about what he's saying.
"It's up to you. What will be your choice?”
