Kyle was used to walking around Harran and seeing only zombies or the Rais's people, but he rarely encountered survivors who needed help. But this time, something was different.
Kyle searched abandoned houses for items he needed. Usually, they were empty or filled with zombies, which was not very pleasant. Either he found pretty good stuff, or just some trinkets.
Kyle was searching houses just before sunset on his way to the safe zone. But in one of the houses, he heard strange noises. No, they weren't the sounds of zombies or anything else, it was more like... a child crying?
At first, Kyle didn't understand what was going on, but he decided to follow the sound. The sound was coming from one room in the house, or more precisely, from a closet. Kyle closed the door behind him just in case and cautiously approached the closet, opened it slightly, and saw... a frightened child covered in wounds and tears. Kyle was shocked because most children were either in the tower or in safe zones, but not in abandoned houses.
Kyle noticed how frightened the child was of him and decided to calm him down by speaking in a soft voice
“Hey... hey... don't be afraid, I won't hurt you,” he said much more quietly than usual so as not to scare the child. He had a soft spot for children.
“How did you end up here, kid?” he asked, hoping the child would be able to answer him.
