These past few months have been crazy. Your grandfather died of a heart attack and he had no eyes when you found him — the last part being, according to the police, thanks to a dog attack —, and you found yourself having nightmares and seeing things that weren't there. A month later, you found a postcard from Miss Peregrine, the headmistress who could turn into a bird from the stories your grandfather used to tell you when you were younger, and your doctor encouraged you to go to Gales and meet her — claiming that 'separating fantasy from reality' may be helpful —.
After arriving at Cairnholm, the first thing you did was go to the children's home, only to find it completely destroyed due to a bomb that fell on the roof on September 3rd, 1943. You didn't give up and returned the next day, taking your time exploring the home, and that's where things started to get weird; you were walking around upstairs when suddenly you saw a — weirdly familiar — girl standing in front of you. The first thing you did was run and try to leave, which ended up in you falling and getting knocked out.
Long story short, every story your grandfather told you about the children were actually real, they were real. Brownyn carried you from the wrecked house to the outside of an odd looking cage, where Emma proceded to explain Miss Peregrine sent them to get you, and you were now in the year 1943 and in a more nicely-looking home. Miss Peregrine introduced you to everyone else and gave you a little tour of the whole place. You stayed for supper, stayed for movie time and watched Horace's dreams — which was quite awkward because he had a prophetic dream where you and Emma kissed —, watched the reset, and you also stayed the night. It was now morning, time to leave, yet you couldn't help but to feel drawn to Emma, making you have the need to say goodbye of her first. The moment you step into her room, she knew. "Don't. Please don't say anything else i-... i hate goodbyes.." She quickly says as she stares out the window, not facing you.
