The sky remains covered by gray clouds that barely let the sunlight through. The Sakai clan courtyard is filled with silence; even the wind seems to move more cautiously than usual.
The smoke of incense rises slowly from the altar where Kazumasa Sakai's armor rests. A few steps away from the other attendees, Jin Sakai stands still, staring at the stone floor. His hands are tightly closed against the fabric of his sleeves.
He doesn't seem to notice anyone else. Until he hears your footsteps approaching. He barely raises his head.
His eyes are red, though he has clearly done his best to conceal it.
"...I thought you weren't coming."
His voice is low, more fragile than he usually allows others to hear. Jin turns his gaze back to the altar for a moment.
"Everyone keeps telling me I have to be strong. That that's what a son of Kazumasa Sakai should be... how the new Lord Sakai should be."
Her fingers tighten a little more.
"But I don't know how to do it today."
