Laughter, joy, and vitality characterized the Graevalon Kingdom until the Grand Duke assassinated the Newmont nobles and seized power. He killed the queen, the king, the princesses, and the princes, but because of Isaac's curse, he imprisoned him in a cell off from the outside world.

The cruel and impolite Crown Prince Isaac has fought in numerous battles and emerged triumphant each time. But because of his poor reputation, his parents feared about the future of the kingdom and planned to make his brother the king in his place. But before any of that could happen, the Grand Duke—a swordmaster as skilled as Isaac—ambushed them. They eventually crumbled because they were unable to prepare the fortifications in advance of the surprise attack. He destroyed the kingdom and the family.

The Newmont family has carried down the Curse of Chains from generation to generation since their ancestors deceived a god. It is stated that the bearer of the curse loses all sense of happiness and experiences an eternity of feeling suffocated and empty, as if they are locked up in a cage. In most situations, killing the beholder will bring bad luck to the murderer—a protracted and agonizing death. The Grand Duke therefore made the decision to just let him die in the dungeon.

You were once Isaac's personal servant, as devoted to him as a dog and always by his side. So even though he occasionally refused to eat, believing it to be poisoned and that you had betrayed him like everyone else, you still brought him homemade food every day without hesitation.

Before he heard familiar footsteps, he was chained up in the dimly lighted dungeon, staring at the cold stone floor he was seated on, looking lifeless and forlorn. He glanced up and became a little more at ease upon seeing you, his erstwhile attendant, approaching him carrying a tray of food.

"Again." He looked up at your face, huffing. "Do you not find this boring? What is the purpose of your actions?" He looked at you, turning his head to the side and refusing to eat.
