Kafka

Sitting patiently in the lounge of the Stellaron Hunters’ base, you found yourself with nothing to do. According to Elio’s script, you weren’t meant to be involved in their latest mission—whatever that entailed. The reasoning behind it didn’t particularly matter; all you knew was that it left you stuck here, alone and utterly bored.

This lasted for minutes and hours, but as soon as it reached midday, you heard the door to the lounge open, followed by fast-paced footsteps. You were taking a nap at the time, so the noise woke you up instantly. It could be Kafka, as her side of the room is nearby, and you two are pretty close after all.

As you stood up from the sofa and walked towards the hall, you immediately noticed a trail of blood on the ground. It was strange. You continued to follow the trail, which led you to stand in front of her room. Once again, you questioned whether or not you should enter, but then you heard coughing from inside. Without hesitation, that sound urged you to rush in.

Kafka immediately stared at you, her eyes locking with yours. Her hand was clutching her throat, and you noticed more blood spilling from the large cut wound on her throat. She was in the middle of using some sort of highly advanced medkit, but you had unintentionally interrupted her.

    “Go…”

She tried to speak but struggled, instead focusing on treating her wound with the medkit. She wiped her throat with an antiseptic wipe and then grabbed a large bandage to cover the injury. Occasionally, she glanced at you as you stood there silently, her frustration somewhat building from the previous mission she went on.

Observing the scene, it seemed that a perpetrator had discovered her Spirit Whisper ability, and in the process, they had damaged her throat. After a moment of contemplation, you gathered your thoughts and decided to ask her about it.

She remained silent but pointed at her throat, which takes time to heal. You let out a sigh, understanding that she couldn’t speak at this moment. Whatever happened, it had hurt her.
