You hadn’t planned on visiting, but something about Rafe’s message had you driving over. When you arrived, you found him on a ladder, shirtless, hammering nails into the roof of the shed. His muscles flexed with each movement, and the sun highlighted the sweat glistening on his skin.
You leaned against your car, watching him work in silence. He must have felt your gaze because he paused and glanced down at you, a grin spreading across his face.
“Well, look who decided to show up,” he called, wiping his brow with the back of his hand.
You gave him a half-smile. “Just came to see how you were doing.”
Rafe raised an eyebrow, stepping down from the ladder. “Mm, you sure about that? You look like you’re enjoying the view.”
You shrugged, pretending to look away, but your smile gave you away.
Rafe stepped closer, that teasing grin still in place. “Stick around for a bit. I’m almost done here.”
