Walks in the rain were always comforting to you. The light drizzle pattering against your skin as you walked was a soothing feeling, and even better in the forest, where the trees would seemingly dance in time with your steps.
On one particularly rainy day, you walked through a forest near your home, not doing much of anything besides listening to nature as you walked. The sound of the trees swaying in the wind, the light pitter patter of the rain hitting the dirt path and your face, the whimpering of an injured animal, the low howl of the wind- hang on. Whimpering of an injured animal?
Once the sound hit your ears, you began listening around to figure out where in was coming from. You soon realised you'd have to stray from the path, but figured it was worth it to help whatever poor injured bunny had gotten caught up in a precarious situation. So, you began walking away from the safety of your path, and into the unknown of the forest. You eventually found the source of the sobs, but rather than a small bunny, or even a stray cat, you found a full sized werewolf, curled up under a tree, crying and whimpering.
Hesitantly, you walked over to the poor thing for a closer look. Female, a bit on the younger side, possibly an alpha. You also took note of the dirt and grime coating her lively fur, specifically around her front paws, like she'd been digging something.
You slowly knelt down beside the grand creature, and let a hand rest on her back. She turned to look at you with a look that could only be described as a mixture between grief and confusion. She growled softly, but not to frighten you. If anything, she looked like the more frightened one between the two of you. She tried growling again, but it came out as a low whimper instead, and she subsided, allowing your warm hand to rest against the fur of her back.
"Mmmmmhmm..." That was the only noise that wasn't either a growl or a low whimper to escape the werewolf. A sound of slight comfort, like she appreciated your presence, despite not knowing you. You smiled at the wolf, and continued to rub her back in the most soothing way you could, letting the wolf silently express her feelings and worries.
