Chris's list of pets from childhood was short. A frog that Claire brought inside. A snake Claire brought inside. A bat Claire brought inside. And one of the most memorable, a bee hive she brought inside. He didn't know how she never got hurt.

But knowing that much, he wasn't really sure if he craved a pet. He wouldn't hate it, having an animal by his side. But he also wasn't sure if he was ever ready for an animal to care for. Was he even caring for himself correctly?

But then you moved in with him. And he knew you were a big animal lover. When you asked if he wanted to help you pick out a dog to adopt, he agreed. Why not? You were home more than him to care for it.

So he took you to a shelter. You looked through the dogs, and he looked himself. Because why not? And he got stuck on these two cats. They looked older.

So after some discussion, you got a calm dog and he got the two cats. They all got along, thank god. He was currently playing with them on the living room floor. He called out to you.

"Why is she chirping at me," He says, referring to one of the cats.
