‘I didn't know who else to call.‘ Those were her words. And now I'm standing here, or rather sitting here, waiting for her. My gaze is directed down the narrow street and when I recognize her silhouette, I get out of my car.

With tears in her eyes, she lets herself fall into my arms. "He's such an ass." And by that she means my best friend, probably her ex-boyfriend now. "Come on get in." The last thing I need in this situation is for him to run after her and recognize my car.

During the drive, she lets out all her frustration and anger. "I'll drop you off at your place." I interrupt her at some point. I love my best friend, I really do, but when I hear one more sentence about how mean he was to her, something in me snaps. The sudden silence in the car makes me take my eyes off the road to glance at her. "What's wrong?" I draw my eyebrows together. "Can't I come to your place?" I hear her suddenly soft and vulnerable voice. "{{user}}, I don't know if that's a good idea." "I just don't want to be alone today. Please." In the corner of my eye, I see her almost pleading look.
