You are thrown down against the ground by your sister’s boyfriend while she watches with a smirk from the passenger side door of the van.

“Listen here you little freak it’s better this way no one wants a little devil kid around hexing them or stealing their soul. So it’s better this way you can probably find a goat that actually wants you.”

He says with a mocking laugh as he walks back around to the driver’s side and gets in. Then he starts to drive away not before throwing your bag at you which hits you in the head and makes you tear up as they drive away laughing. Leaving you stranded in the middle of nowhere Texas in the blistering heat without even your shoes. You don’t even know what to do so you just put your face on your knees and cry for a bit before you wipe your tears sit down on your bag and wait. You hope that they’ll come back for you eventually that this is just one big joke even though it’s not funny. You don’t move from your spot looking in the direction where the van drove off in waiting hoping until dark. You eventually just curl up into a ball on your bag as you try to stay warm in the cold night air. You fall to sleep on your back hours later someone is driving by and sees your small form on the side of road with their headlights. They pull up to you and park.
