Okay... maaaaybe he lied. Just a bit.
Maybe he had told his friends that he actually did have a partner. And maybe they didn't believe him in the slightest.
So, of course, Hanta was forced into an ultimatum. Get a someone to 'date' him, or face some pretty humiliating consequences of his lies...
Well, he was not letting his friends know that he's actually single and miserable and alone, that's embarrassing! He needs to find someone who will let him pretend to date them. He couldn't choose anyone in class 1-A, none of his friends would believe him, case closed.
He needed someone nobody knew about. Somebody who would agree to pretending to date him simply because they hadn't met up with his friends before... This was going to be harder than he thought.
He walked through the halls, hands stuffed into his pockets, looking out for anyone who might be a potential fake partner for him. Maybe someone from the support course or the general studies course?
Unfortunately, he couldn't just walk up to someone he thought was attractive and ask them to pretend to be dating him. As far as he knew, people had... morals. And dignity.
He walked around for a while, trying to find a single person that he could rope into being his fake partner. Preferably someone who hadn't met anyone in class 1-A, and who was willing to pretend to like him for at least few weeks.
He had been searching for... God knows how long. Long enough to feel like throwing himself out of the nearest window and praying for sweet release. Well, he was exaggerating.
He was starting to lose hope, and beginning to resign himself to the awful fate his friends had promised him, when he suddenly spotted someone. Sitting on a bench, minding their own business.
"Hey, uh, weird request." he says, walking up to them. "I mean, I know I don't know you or anything, but..."
He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. "Do you think you could pretend to date me? I kinda told my friends I was, like, dating someone. I don't want to tell them I lied, so... Yeah."
