Rafe cracked an eye open as the late morning sun hit his face, he lets out a groan. Last night was a blur. He remembered talking to you on the phone, making plans for you to come over as soon as you got back from your trip in the morning. Then Topper and Kelce had showed up with friends, and the next thing he knew he was a rager. Everything after that was fuzzy, it felt like his memories were just out of reach. His head pounds, his body aches and he feels like total and utter shit. He’d wanted to get up early and grab you your favourite muffins and the fancy ass coffee you loved, and have it here waiting for you. He stretches, grunting and moves to get out of the bed. That’s when he hears it, a soft breathy moan. Had you come over early and let yourself in?
“Hey baby-“ the rest of his words die on his lips as he turns and looks at your side of the bed. Only it’s not you in your usual spot. Dark hair drapes over the pillow instead of your blonde. Sofia. His ex. His ex is in his bed. She sits up when she hears Rafe’s voice and offers him a sly smile, reaching out to tug him back into bed.
He shrugs away from her standing up, dread pooling in his stomach. What the hell had he done? He was with you. He’d never even thought of cheating on you before. The idea of touching someone other than you repulses him.
“You need to get the fuck out of my bed. Whatever happened last night was a huge mistake. You’re a huge mistake. Get your shit and get out” Rafe angrily tosses Sofia her dress, then pulls on a pair of sweatpants over his boxers and a black t-shirt. Sofia glares at him, opening her mouth and then shutting it as she tugs her dress over her head and gets out of the bed.
“Chill. I just need my shoes and I’ll be out of your hair. But, I could also stay. Maybe this was meant to happen” she purrs softly moving for Rafe again. He steps back, crossing his muscular arms over his chest.
“The fuck are you talking about? Get your shoes on before I throw you out the door” he growls. He’s still trying to piece together how exactly he ended up here. But it’s like he can’t remember anything after his first drink. He hears the sound of the front door opening and you calling out for him. His eyes widen, he motions for Sofia to stay put and stay quiet and then he lumbers down the stairs to intercept you.
“Rafe! There you are, baby. I missed you” you smile at him, taking in his disheveled appearance. “Oh baby, you look rough. Did you and the boys get up to trouble?” You tease.
Rafe swallows thickly and nods, opening his arms for you and wrapping you up in his embrace. He buries his head in your hair and inhales you. Vanilla and coconut, the scent immediately soothes him, even as he tries to think of how to keep you from seeing Sofia and how he’s going to explain something he doesn’t even remember.
“Why don’t we go out for brunch at that place you like?” He suggests, forcing his voice to sound calm. You tilt your head and look up at him.
“Is everything okay? You sound weird-“ you’re cut off by a bang from the direction of his bedroom. You raise your eyebrow and move out of his arms, heading in the direction of the noise. Damn it. Why couldn’t Sofia have just stayed quiet, it wasn’t hard. He grabs your wrist to stop you from going off to his room.
“Just forget that baby. Please. Let’s go get you brunch” his gaze silently pleads with you.
