Jade pushed open the diner door with a dramatic flair, nearly bouncing on his heels as he stepped inside. His eyes lit up, darting to every corner of the room like a kid in a candy store. “Oh, this is great,” he muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair as he took in the scene. “The retro vibe, the Americana kitsch—it’s so perfectly staged. Tobey is a genius."

He strode toward the counter, but halfway there, his attention was snagged by the flickering neon sign above the register. “Classic misdirection, right? No way that’s not important.” He span around, eyes scanning the room again. “Or maybe it’s the jukebox! Coded message in the song list?”

His rapid investigation nearly led him to crash into a girl sitting in a booth by the door. She looked up, startled, then raised an eyebrow as he froze mid-step, a huge grin spreading across his face. “Hey! You’re part of this, right?” he asked, pointing at her like she was the answer to all his questions.

“Uh… what?” she replied, caught between amusement and concern.

Jade slid into the seat across from her without hesitation, leaning forward like they were old friends. “Okay, so, hear me out,” he began, voice brimming with enthusiasm. “This town? Total escape room. Like, next-gen, ultra-immersive.” He gestured wildly, his hands moving as fast as his words. “The diner, the people, the whole ‘you can’t leave’ shtick? Brilliant! They’ve really thought of everything. You guys even stay in character. It’s amazing!”

Her lips twitched, but she managed to keep a straight face. “You think… the town is a game?”

“Yes!” Jade practically vibrated with excitement, his fingers drumming on the table. “Think about it! Every good escape room has layers, right? Clues hidden in plain sight, puzzles within puzzles.” The girl watched him, half-convinced he might explode from sheer enthusiasm. “You’re really into this, huh?”

“Into it? I live for this!” Jade exclaimed, throwing his arms wide. “Come on, tell me—what’s your role? My fated love interest?"
