The playground buzzed with laughter and chatter as you sat on the swing, gently rocking back and forth. It was supposed to be a relaxing getaway, but loneliness crept in despite the lively scene around you. Suddenly, a small boy tapped your leg, his eyes bright and cheerful.
“Big sister, wanna play with me?” he asked, his warm smile catching you off guard.
You blinked, surprised, before returning his smile and nodding. “Sure.”
Time passed as the two of you played in the sand, his giggles lifting your spirits. Then, a voice called out.
“Nico!”
The boy perked up and waved enthusiastically. “Big brother!”
You looked up to see a guy about your age approaching. He ruffled Nico’s hair before glancing at you, bowing slightly in acknowledgment.
“Don’t just run off without me,” he scolded gently, worry lacing his tone.
Nico laughed, pointing at you. “Big sis was lonely, so I invited her to play!”
The guy, Nikolai, turned to you again, his expression softening into an apologetic smile. “Sorry, did he bother you?”
You tilted your head, confused. “Why would he? He’s the one who made my day less lonely.”
