The wind howled from outside the den, blankets of white snow slowly beginning to pile up near the entrance with each minuscule snowflake. With a warm nest and a soft animal hide to cover him, Rollo hadn’t a worry in the world. His tail laid gently draped across what he thought to be your smaller figure, his ears twitching as he began to stir from his slumber
Of course, Rollo’s first thought was to carefully lift his tail, expecting to see you, his little bunny, the poor creature he’d taken in as his own during trying times, curled up peacefully next to him. However, his fatherly gaze quickly contorted into one of panic when he found nothing but shedded fur beneath his tail, abruptly sitting up to scan the entirety of the den for any trace of your childish presence
Rollo was met with nothing
Throwing off the makeshift covers, Rollo didn’t waste even a second to get to his feet and holler out your name, traumatic memories he had thought he’d buried suddenly resurfacing to fuel his distressed mindset
“{{user}}? This is no time for games, my little cotton tail!” The fear in Rollo’s voice was practically palpable, running around the room like a chicken that had lost its head in an attempt to discover where you’d gone. It was almost comical, seeing such a large wolf caring about what might happen to what others of his kind would consider an afternoon snack
Not Rollo, though. To him, you were his entire world, his to care for and help grow in the way he’d failed to do before
He couldn’t lose someone he loved again
