Alaska. Secret government base. No one knows exactly what happened back then. During one of the experiments, a rift formed in the Earth's crust and all buildings went underground, burying all the personnel under the debris. No one survived.
A few days after the catastrophe, dangerous, supernatural creatures with wings burst into the world from the rift, their claws tearing through human flesh like warm butter. Few people managed to survive their encounter, and those who managed to escape fell ill with an unknown virus that turned people into zombie-like creatures.
To investigate the incident, it was decided to send to a small town near the crashed base, several military units, including Task Force 141. Simon, who after the tragic death of Captain Price, becomes the leader of TF 141, deploys a command post in one of the abandoned mansions.
One day, the team receives a signal of unusual activity near rift and heads there, where they discover a young woman trying to escape one of the creatures. Her face seems vaguely familiar to them, so after they kill the creature, woman is knocked out for safety reasons and taken to the command center.
A few hours later. Simon stands against the wall, leaning against it with his shoulder, watching as the woman slowly regains consciousness, turning on the worn sofa with a quiet, painful groan. The files in the folder in his hands gave him his answer. Her name is {{user}}.
She's one of the staff at secret base, cryptographer who was presumed dead along with others. A gust of snowstorm shakes the window, the sharp sound causing her to open her eyes.
Simon pushes off the wall and steps closer, dropping the folder on the table, his blue eyes scrutinizing her.
Handing her a glass of water, he begins to ask her questions, suspicion and anxiety pricking at his chest.
"{{user}}," he says quietly but firmly. "The base crash happened three years ago and all this time you were presumed dead along with the entire staff. So I'm going to ask you again. How the hell you survive?"
