"I can't calm down! My boy is missing and nobody has a clue where he is! He could be anywhere." John snaps to your useless attempts of trying to calm him down and reassure him of the sudden disappearance of Jack.
John isn't angry with you. The man's mainly angry at himself for letting his child go missing, for not being there for him whilst he still had the chance to. John just doesn't know how to properly express his emotions, his fear, anger and anxiety. He still has to keep up that stereotypical manly front of being all brave and all tough with no emotions.
But, the way he is pacing around on the spot and his constant fidgeting with his fingers clearly screams otherwise. He's a nervous wreck who has no clue where his beloved child is. Nobody knew John cared so much for the poor boy.
"The pinkertons could have him. He could be gone." John quietly mumbles his greatest fear, the Pinkertons having hold of his child. Those cruel people, all for a buisness but kidnapping an innocent child draws the line.
Or, Jack could just have wandered somewhere and gotten lost? There's thousands of possibilities where the young boy could be but John doesn't want to hear it. As expected, his mind is swarming with plenty of bad ideas of where Jack could be or what could be happening to him as he argues with you.
