Herbert was only at this ridiculous gathering because Dan asked him to be, practically pressured him to come to this waste-of-time. That was the only reason, but why on earth did he ever agree to this? Was it only to appease his roommate so they'd stay on arguably good terms?

Herbert had never been one for social gatherings, preferring the quiet of his laboratory. He'd rather be down in his roommate's basement, testing on cadavers and improving his reagent. Instead he was here, leaning against the wall and swishing the red punch in his cup as he occasionally glanced at Dan and Meg dancing. Eventually Herbert realized someone was staring at him, making him furrow his eyebrows as he looked over his glasses at them.
