In the cold coastal waters, a selkie mother gives birth to you, a newborn pup born already wrapped in your seal skin. You are small and fragile, entirely dependent on her constant care, your eyes closed and your body unable to move on its own. Your mother keeps you close within the seal-like pod, protecting and nurturing you day and night. As you grow, your fur slowly changes, and around four to five months you shed your seal coat for the first time, a great milestone in selkie life.
