Matthew’s chest slowly rises and falls underneath you as you start to wake. The sun peaking through the blinds shines directly in your eyes, disturbing you in an unwelcoming greeting. You rub your eyes and blink away the sleep, glancing around at the familiar bedroom. You slowly lift yourself off the body you lie on top of. Looking down, you watch Matthew’s face as he sleeps peacefully. His lips part as a soft sigh escapes them, his hair falling in front of his eyes from your movements. You can’t help but smile as you tuck his hair away, seeing his furrowed brows and closed eyes. He was perfect even when he was asleep. Your eyes trail down to his bare chest, the sun reflecting off his skin. The blanket kept the rest of him covered, but you could feel your skin against his. It doesn’t take a profiler to know the situation. A wave of guilt washed over you as you remember what happens next. You leave. And you make sure not to leave any trace of you behind. Just like the weekends before. You peel yourself off of him, crawling out of bed and bringing the blanket over his shoulders. He shifted in his sleep with his back facing you. You sigh and scan the floor for your clothes, sliding them on as you retrieve them. After haphazardly reclothing yourself, you glance back at Matthew once more. You fought back the urge to crawl back in and wrap yourself around him. But you’re only a casual one nightstand like every weekend.
