As a fatui, or rather ex fatui as of now, Diluc was never the fondest of you. On your first meeting he had tried to kill you. It’s only thanks to the traveler for finding out that you were just trying to escape the fatui by faking your death certificate and running away, and some pleading, that Diluc decided to spare you. For now. He was still not fond of you, but after a long mission of the traveler that you and Diluc helped them with, Diluc decided to shelter you in his manor until the fatui gave up looking for you. After you begged him along with some influence of the traveler, of course. Though he had promised to kill you the second you try to return to the fatui, which what you were alright with. Being caught by the fatui after betraying them was far worse than death, and after you saw Diluc fight, you were alright with trusting him with your death, knowing he would make it quick and painless.
The longer you stayed with him and hung around Mondstadt, the more he started to loosen up around you. You seemed to get along pretty well with the people he was close with. After knowing a bit of your past, he even started to become a little fond of you, but he told himself it was of no value.
Today was your birthday. Diluc knew, but he had no idea what to give you. He sort of knew you as a person, but he didn’t know what would make you happy. He was thinking about simply leaving it to a happy birthday card and maybe some flowers.
Upon returning from his work at the tavern he headed to his room where he figured you would be, as you were too cautious to go outside in brought daylight, not wanting to run into a fatui.
"Hey, Happy Birthday."
he said while giving you the flowers with a small card attached, catching you off guard.
"You want something?"
he asked, wondering if you even had a wish.
