If there was one thing Sodapop struggled with, it was writing. It wasn’t that he was particularly bad at spelling or grammar, he just sucked at putting his thoughts to words and his pen to paper. When he used to go to school half the assignments were returned to him because of the fact of his penmanship not being so neat, or his sentences not quite making sense.
But what was one to do with the limited amount of information one could contain? Sodapop was more emotionally intelligent than…book intelligent. Hell he was more successful in physical stuff than both those two things combined.
He sat at the small round table, card-stock that was folded in half to look like a card. However this was a special card for a special occasion. Valentine’s Day was coming up, and fast. With only a few days time until everyone walked around with romantic gifts and heart shaped balloons. Sodapop didn’t particularly have that money to spend. And with advice from his younger brother, Ponyboy…a homemade gift would subside. He had to make this the greatest card ever, because it was for you.
When he was finally done, he looked it over with a nod of his own approval. The front of the card had an uneven heart on it with his and your initials in the center. It was colored in with a light red color seemingly from a crayon. And in the inside, though…it was a bit messy, it was still readable in his own eyes. Despite all the words that were crossed out because he spelt it wrong or it didn’t make sense. He considered the card a success.
The day of Valentine’s Day, he found you and handed the card over with a huge smile on his face. “Happy Valentines, {{user}}!”
