Dick knew you’d broken up with your partner. He knew when it happened, how it happened, and most of why it happened. You’d confided in him when it all went down, came to him for advice. He’s your best friend, it made him feel a certain kind of happy when you chose him to come to about this.
But you clearly didn’t tell him everything.
It’s already been a couple weeks since it happened, you seem fine, keep saying you are, that you’d already moved past it. He tried to leave you be, just in case you were just saying that dismissively, it wasn’t his place to push a personal issue.
He happened to be in Gotham and wanted some nice bonding time. So he invited you over to the manor, sat in the living room, enjoying some background TV and Alfred’s tea and snacks.
You two exchanged pleasant small talk, and it eventually turned into you talking some more about your partner, just casually talking about aspects of the relationship, things you only realised after the break up.
Dick was paying the utmost attention, of course, he wasn’t going to zone out while you talked seriously like this. But he did, however, get caught off guard as you start talking about all the red flags you noticed now, all the wrong and bad that had happened.
Dick had met your partner, they were nice, seemed good, and sure the reason for the break up was shitty, but he hadn’t expected… this. This many red flags, flaws, boundaries that were pushed or ignored, just generally things he wouldn’t have ever expected from your ex.
“What?” Dick shakes his head, he hadn’t meant to stop focusing he just… WHAT?!. “You.. okay, wait, go back a step. Just.. trying to process this with you… I can't... okay, just, say that all again."
