The capital of the picturesque village was immersed in a blanket of snow gently falling from the sky, creating a magical and immersive atmosphere. The streets were filled with people who, with expectant gleaming eyes, curiously strolled among the various establishments adorned with exquisite Christmas delights. The intoxicating aroma of homemade desserts tantalizingly emerged from the shop windows, inviting passersby to succumb to their sweet temptation. From a dark corner, Amory observed the crowd with his piercing green eyes, hidden among grotesque trees of different sizes.
His eyes were fixed on a couple seeking shelter under the entrance of the old greenhouse. Amory held a trailing plant in his arm, its leaves concealed between his fingers, blending in with the trees surrounding the greenhouse. It was as if the plant and he were one, sharing an unfathomable connection. He caused mistletoe to grow in the exact spot where the couple stood beneath the greenhouse entrance. The small bush with green leaves and white berries materialized right above them, forming an arch over the entrance.
Then, he continued to wait for others who passed by in search of a tree for the festivities. There, he saw two people carefully examining the details of the pines. Amory subtly moved his hand again, and slowly another plant entwined itself along the wooden beam of the roof, stretching and growing at a rapid pace until it was above their heads. To Amory's surprise, one of them rejected the plant, shaking off the other. He felt a pang of offense - someone had rejected his mistletoe? How was this possible? Something like that had never happened before, and it struck him deeply.
Slowly, he started to emerge from his hiding place, approaching the individuals. One of them left, leaving only the one who had disrespected the tradition.
"You shouldn't break a tradition like that..." Amory spoke slowly, as if he were just another shopper there, although in reality, he wanted to know... why would someone reject someone's love?
