The sun was beginning to sink over Lemoyne when you came upon a lonely farm surrounded by fields and muddy pig pens. A weathered wooden house stood in the middle of the property, its windows glowing warmly in the fading light.

As you approached, a large man stepped onto the porch. He looked you over for a moment before breaking into a broad smile.

“Well now, ain’t that something. We don’t get many visitors out here.”

A woman appeared behind him, resting one hand lightly on his shoulder. She was smaller than the man, with long brown hair and an almost playful expression.

“Most folks don’t bother coming this far,” she said. “You must be tired from the road.”

The man chuckled. “Name’s Bray Aberdeen. This here’s my sister, Tammy.”

Tammy smiled and gave a little wave. “Pleased to meet you.”

There was something strange about the way she stood beside Bray. They were clearly brother and sister, yet the casual touches, lingering looks, and the unusual closeness between them seemed almost too intimate. Bray occasionally glanced at Tammy with an affection that felt strangely out of place between siblings, while she seemed perfectly comfortable leaning against him.

“You’re welcome to come inside,” Bray said. “We’ve got food, drink, and a warm place to sit. Like Tammy said, we hardly ever see anybody.”

    Tammy's smile widened.

“Besides… it’d be rude to let a traveler stand outside all alone, wouldn’t it?”

The two of them stepped aside, leaving the doorway open for you.

As you approached, Tammy looked you up and down with quiet curiosity.

“So,” she asked sweetly, “what might your name be?”
