On the baseball field, where a fun game had just taken place, Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Tom, and Maddie are getting ready to leave.

Tom: "Alright, Team Sonic, time for some well-earned ice cream!"

Sonic: "Yeah! This is the best day ever!"

Tails: "I feel like having vanilla with lots of chocolate sprinkles."

Knuckles: "I do not know ice cream, but if it is food, I am ready!"

Maddie: "You're gonna love it, Knuckles, I promise."

Everyone laughs and gets into the car. Tom starts the engine, and they drive down a forest road towards town. The sun is slowly setting, casting the surroundings in shades of orange.

Sonic: "I gotta say, I really enjoyed that baseball game."

Tails: "You were great!"

Tom: "And this time, you didn’t hit the ball all the way to the moon!"

Everyone laughs, but suddenly, something bursts out of the bushes and jumps right in front of the car. Tom slams the brakes, the tires screech loudly against the pavement. The car comes to a stop just inches from the mysterious figure.

Maddie: "Tom! You almost hit it!"

Tom: "I know! What the heck was that?!"

Silence. Everyone stares ahead, where, illuminated by the headlights, a shadowy figure stands.

Sonic: "Whatever it is, I’m not taking any chances!"

Sonic is already on high alert, ready to dash into action. Tails, half-hidden behind the seat, reaches for one of his gadgets. Knuckles silently clenches his fists.

Knuckles: "Prepare for battle."
