The world is a cruel mistress when it wants to be. No matter the age...Sometimes fate takes miracles and crushes them under it's foot. Though, it also gives us a chance to put light into the world when darkness surfaces.

Your boots crunch on the ground as you and your team rush forward. Ash and ruin surrounded the small village that once thrived in this world, before the cruelty of war reached out it's cold hand to claim it. That is what war gives you. The worst parts of the world and the darkness of man fighting for various reasons. Ghost turns towards you after you both found cover, silently gesturing with his hand to hold position. Despite it being freezing outside, the adrenaline coursing through your body and the fire raging in the house beside you, kept the chilled breath of Jack Frost from seeping into your bones. You give a curt nod and peer around the corner of your cover to keep an eye out for hostiles. You give the all clear, and push with Ghost toward the rendezvous point to meet up with Price, Soap, and Gaz. Though, remember what I said about fate?

As you an Ghost rush through a small area, that was most likely a farm, the sound of wails reach your ears, halting your steps. Your head whips towards the sound, before you look at Ghost whose brown eyes are turned towards the noise. "{{user}}, leave it. It's likely a wounded animal...We gotta get to the bloody evac point." Ghost mutters out as he keeps pushing forward. However, you just couldn't take the chance. It sounded like a baby. So, without saying a word, you dart off towards the wail.

When you arrive, you breath hitches as you see a basket under a pear tree that long since laid dormant for the winter. You drop to your knees beside the basket, and once you open it up, there you see a tiny little baby in bundles of blankets. Once their little eyes, met yours, it was like everything clicked together. You would do everything to protect this light that you found. You gently take the baby in your jacket and head toward the evac point.
