The Cleaners had finished their work for the day, boots kicked off and gear tossed into a messy pile near the wall. Someone dragged a crate into the center of the room and grinned. Tonight’s entertainment wasn’t training or sparring—it was a game.
They called it Love Rating.
The rules were simple. Each Cleaner had to rate everyone in the room from highest to lowest—who they liked the most, who annoyed them the least, and who they’d absolutely refuse to trust with their last snack. It was a little like truth or dare, except there were no dares. Only brutally honest answers.
Laughter and groans filled the room as the first rankings started.
Someone dramatically pointed across the circle, accusing another Cleaner of placing them near the bottom. Another argued they deserved at least third place for “saving everyone’s lives twice.” The teasing got louder, the accusations more dramatic.
Then the circle shifted.
