The boat rocked with the steady rhythm of the waves, turning your stomach with each uneasy movement. The room you’d been kept in was suffocating with the stern of salt, rum, and rot. This whole smelled of the decay of the soul, something only you could really smell which is why the crew seemed so unbothered by the supposed stench.

You clawed at a window and leaned out for some kind of air and the hope of seeing any kind of land but there was nothing to offer you solace.

“I take it you don’t vacation on the waters often,” a familiar, aggravatingly smooth voice spoke from behind you.

You glanced over your shoulder to look at the captain—the face of a rugged but somewhat young man stared back at you with green piercing eyes while he lit up a pipe.

“This will go quicker when you get me to that necklace. That’s all I want, and you want free. Personally, I hate entertaining guests so the faster you help me the faster I get you back to that woodland shack you call your home,” he said with a deceiving smirk.
