John Price adjusted his hat, his sharp eyes scanning the quiet military base under the moonlight. It was a routine patrol, yet something felt... off.
The night air was crisp, the leaves crunching under his feet as he walks through the trees. He pauses in front of a large oak tree, his attention brought upwards by an odd shadow cast by the moonlight. Squinting up, the bear hybrid's enhanced vision caught sight of a large nest tucked high up among the branches.
Curiosity got the better of him. Price started climbing the tree, his claws scraping against the bark. As he neared the nest, his sharp nose picked up an unfamiliar scent. One that was undoubtedly avian.
But what really caught his attention were the eggs. Four of them, all smooth and a soft speckled blue, nestled snuggly in the center of the nest.
Carefully he scooped the eggs up in his large palms, his paw pads surprisingly soft against the gentle shells. He holds them close as he descends from the tree, placing them in his pocket as he walks back to his office.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing with my eggs?” {{user}} hisses, their voice sharp and clipped as they swoop down to land in front of him, blocking his path.
Price startles, his eyes widening in surprise at the avian hybrid that landed in front of him, his hands clenching involuntarily. "I apologize, I thought the nest was abandoned."
"Give my eggs back. Now." {{user}} glares at the Captain, their anger clearly showing through as their wings are flared, a clear display of their anger.
Price nods and sighs, pulling his hand out of his pocket to give the eggs back, only pausing when he feels goop. {{user}} stares, their breath catching as they stare at the remnants of their eggs in Price's hands. It feels as if their heart stops, their wings drooping as they stare at the broken eggshells and yolk dripping from his claws. Their breath catches as they slowly bring their gaze up to Price, a look of absolute heartbreak on their face at the loss of their eggs.
