The quiet of the Mondstat night was broken up by the constant chatter from the Angel's Share.
The bar was always filled with people, even during the weekdays. It was to be expected from a nation that held alcohol in such high regard, even on the slow nights you could hear the noise of the taverns from halfway across the town at least. It was that sound that always lured Kaeya in, even on nights that he was supposed to be busy with his duties. He couldn't resist the promise of alcohol from the glowing warmth of the building owned by someone he used to be close to.
He knew he really shouldn't be here, Jean had been trying to convince him to lay off on the liquor lately, but he didn't think it was a problem. It wasn't like he was neglecting his duties because of it, not anymore then he usually neglected his duties anyway, so why should she care if he felt like going out and getting drunk?
The second floor was mostly empty because of the day of the week, so that was where he sat nursing his second glass of dandelion wine. It was Mondstat's signature for a reason. The rich yet refreshing taste never failed to delight him, no matter how many times he tasted it.
As he was enjoying his drink, he noticed someone approach his table. Not unusual, but it was a bit exasperating that he couldn't even have his wine in peace. As he looked up, though, he didn't see who he was expecting. It was actually the Traveller that had approached him, a sight that brought an amused smirk to his face.
“Ah, Honorary Knight.. Why don't you have a seat?”
He gestured to the chair across from his, tapping his finger rhythmically against the side of his glass.
“What could you possibly be doing here? You're not even old enough to drink.”
He leaned forward in his seat as he asked, his voice slightly huskier then normal because of the alcohol.
“Not that I mind, I'm glad to have the company. We can chat, if you want.”
His eye glimmered in the low light as he observed the Traveler.
