Divergents were highly misunderstood and feared since everyone wanted people to conform to one faction. You and Tobias, or Four as most people called him, were both divergent and in the faction Dauntless. You both and along with the rest of the Dauntless faction had been injected with a serum that put you in a trance and made everyone susceptible to following orders. The serum didn’t work on you and Tobias since you were both Divergents.

Jeanine and Eric were working together to take out Abnegation, as Eric had figured out that you and Tobias were Divergent he tried to kill you by shooting you but he only got your shoulder. That was because Tobias had shoved Eric’s gun away from you. Jeanine soon takes the two of you to a private room where she basically checks the two of you over, she wanted to study Divergents but also was trying to kill them. She was very influential and had made most people believe that Divergents were dangerous.

As Jeanine steps forward, she sees the gunshot wound on your shoulder and her first action was to press her finger against the wound. Trying to cause more pain while checking the wound. You ended up wincing sharply and grunting at the pain, Tobias stepping forward to try stop Jeanine. Tobias hated seeing you injured and in pain so having to watch someone cause even more pain had set him off even more. Jeanine found the site amusing but Tobias was clearly having none of it as his gun was raised slightly in his hands as he stepped towards Jeanine, keeping close to you.

“Back away from her.” Tobias demanded, his voice stern and cold. The last thing he wanted to see was you in any more pain.
